Our CEO met Paul Owen, the grandson of the original founder of , at Silverstone a couple of weeks ago to discuss various aspects of BRM’s history.
BRM were well represented at the this year, with some amazing cars from previous eras, including the BRM V16. Mike has been fortunate enough on several occasions to hear this mighty car running.
Can you imagine, back in the ’50s, an F1 car with 16 tiny cylinders and a capacity of only 1500 cc. This was a truly revolutionary F1 car for its period and a hugely complex beast.
I say “beast” because, if you’re a petrolhead and lucky enough to hear this car run, it is like nothing you’ve ever heard before — similar to a very angry Bengal tiger intent on destruction!
You can stand 10 feet from this car when it’s running (wear ear defenders — you’ll need them!) and you can literally feel each pulse from the tiny exhausts hitting your chest. It’s a feeling you never forget.
It was great to see this BRM V16, along with other BRM cars, displayed and racing by their very lucky owners at this magical event.
